Interior Kids

KIDS x DESIGN: SHORTNEWS

My little boy is growing from day to day and already 5 months old. It is unbelievable how fast time flies when you have kids – and we are already buying a little chair for him so that very soon he can have “lunch” with us. Searching for kid chairs was again – like most of the other purchases for him – not quite easy. Because you have to buy stuff, and at the same time don’t want your stylish home more and more become looking like a kindergarten. So it is every time a little fight, but this time I am quite happy. My strategy is: Mix it up with really straight, minimalistic and bold interior pieces. I am looking forward to show you my selection of interior investments:

THE MICUNA OVO CHAIR

First let me show you my choice for the kids chair – the Micuna Ovo Chair is for me a really good compromise between design and functionality, it grows with the child and it beautifully fits to my Eames chairs. And is looking quite pretty at the same time! I found the “cheapest” one at Kidswoodlove.de.

THE SOLVAY TABLE BY JEAN PROUVÉ

The longer I know this table, the more I appreciate it. With its very straight design the Solvay Table is a timeless but strong piece in every dining room. This design classic is still available at Vitra and I can’t wait to have it finally in my kitchen.

TOM DIXON LIGHTING

As one of the most well-known newcomer designer of the last years Tom Dixon has a talent for lighting. Plus his pieces are quite affordable! If you have the pocket money: his pending lights look the better the more of them you put on the ceiling… Buy everything directly at his online shop, I did not find any lower-priced source than that and enjoy the 30% sale on many of the shown lights below.

KLEINE FABRIEK AMSTERDAM

An adorable art fair for baby and kidswear in Amsterdam just took place at January 8th and 9th, but will be back in July in Amsterdam. Newcomer labels as well as popular design brands present the latest trends and product developments. Highlights amongst many others were Margherita Kids by Margherita Missoni, By-Bar by Barbara Brenninkmeyer, Picnik Barcelona, Leoca Paris, Trixie Baby and keoka. Just have a look at some of the impressions and if you are by chance in Amsterdam 9th and 10th July – enjoy the inspiration!

BEAUTIFUL ARTWORKS BY THE PAPER COLLECTIVE

I stumbled over their work at Hallesches Haus (Berlin, worth a visit!) with this quite beautiful flyer. And immediately knew I wanted to have a home as reduced as on this picture plus I wanted to have this bar trolley on wheels by designer Herbert Hirche.

It needs a lot of space to be a really hero piece at your home and should not be filled with too many things. A cactus and a book is just the right amount 😉 I am still working on reducing stuff in my living room, but I am sure I will get closer to this adorable minimalism quite soon. I already have a place for this beloved special “corner of nothing”.

But not to forget the paper collective – with their wide range of different art styles they offer your wall decoration for every interior pic. Enjoy their nice collection!
